middle school art classwork
i hated my elementary and high school required art classes because i hated being told what to draw and how to draw it by strict teachers. the concept of 'creativity' being a Virginia SOL is laughable. anyway, these pieces are all from my middle school art class, which i actually enjoyed because i loved my teacher, ms kaarn (we now follow each other on instagram, and she is still a big supporter of my art :') ). even so, the difference in quality between these assigned works and personal works from the same time period, to me, is astounding.

i love that the subject of this painting, a stuffed toy version of our family dog max, doesn't actually exist, which kind of defeats the whole point of a still life painting
